Four players missed the first practice following the series win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday.  Dominic Moore, Hal Gill and Josh Gorges took a therapy day along with Paul Mara, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.

Andrei Markov took part in his first full practice since the knee injury that sidelined him in game one against the Penguins.  He worked alongside his regular late season partner Ryan O’Byrne.

Sergei Kostitsyn came out of the doghouse long enough to practice with the team.  Kostitsyn was not allowed to travel with his teammates the last half of the Pittsburgh series.

Don’t read anything into this, but this was the way Jacques Martin used his available players at practice today.

Moen               – Gomez         – Gionta
A. Kostitsyn – Plekanec    – Cammelleri
Pouliot            – Metropolit – Darche
Pyatt                – Maxwell      – Lapierre/S. Kostitsyn

Markov – O’Byrne
Hamrlik – Subban
Spacek – Bergeron

Goal – Halak/Price

Note– Recognizing there can be too much of a good thing, Canadiens director of communications, Donald Beauchamp said today that there would be no showing of the opening two games of the next round on the high definition screens at the Bell Centre. He did indicate that the team would “consider” a repeat of the memorable Bell Centre showing of game seven from Pittsburgh, should the Canadiens be in position to clinch a series on the road  in the future.
