The new NHL CBA will not become official untiil the NHLPA ratifies it, a process that won’t be completed until Saturday. For a few NHLer’s, including Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov, it’s an opportunity to legally squeeze and extra game or two before the Sunday opening of NHL training camps.

Alexei Emelin, Andrei Markov and Lars Eller all hit the scoresheet as their teams won games in Russia and Finland on Wednesday. In North America Scott Gomez had a goal and assist as Alaska won it’s sixth in a row.

Andrei Markov has had a lot of trouble finding the offensive component of his game since he joined Vityaz Chekhov of the Kontinental Hockey League. In his 12th game with Vityaz Monday he finally contributed on the scoresheet in a 5-3 win at Astana Kazakhstan. Markov was also involved in a late game fight.

Lars Eller was the brightest light as six of the group of seven Canadiens playing in Europe on Friday night. Eller notched two more assists as Jyväskylä beat Helsinki in Finland’s SM-Liiga. Meanwhile in the Swiss League Raphael Diaz ran his point scoring streak to eight games with a goal and an assist for Zug.

On October 26th Andrei Markov suffered what was called “bruised ribs” following a mid-ice collision. Three weeks later Markov was still unavailable for Chekhov’s game at Minsk Belarus Wednesday.

With Andrei Markov out of the Chekhov lineup with a rib injury, only one member of the Canadiens saw action Monday in Europe. Alexei Emelin was part of Kazan’s victory over Atlant.
