One of the definitions of the word “conundrum” is “a confusing and difficult problem or question.” A perfect description of the Bob Hartley situation vis a vis the Canadiens head coaching job. Hartley has one more year to run in a contract with Zurich of the Swiss National Hockey League a roadblock the Canadiens will have to deal with if in fact they’re interested in signing him.

Alain Vigneault is being retained by Vancouver, Joel Quenneville’s staying in Chicago and the list of legitimate experienced Canadiens coaching candidates is a very small one. Unless general manager Marc Bergevin wants to reach into the AHL or junior ranks, his coaching options seem to BEbe limited to either Marc Crawford or Bob Hartley.
