GAME #48 – Canadiens-7 Ottawa-1 (Jan.21/2011)

This was almost unfair. The Senators are in an awful slump; they played a tough grinding, fight filled game the night before in Philadelphia while the Canadiens came in rested. Still, that stuff goes on all the time in the 82 game NHL schedule and you have to fight through it. There didn’t seem to be much fight left in the Senators after the first period.
It’s about the first period. The Canadiens took advantage of the Senators sloppiness in to get the 2-0 lead. Darche with a great pass to send Pouliot away on the breakaway and then Kostitsyn stealing the puck and setting up Plekanec

it will be his first regular season start at the Bell Centre as a member of the Canadiens. With back to back games twice this week, Auld may get a second start on the weekend. In six appearances and five starts this season, Auld has a 3-2-0 record with a 1.74 goals-against average and a save percentage of .941.
Auld made three Bell Centre starts during the exhibition season, the last one a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on September 30th. On that night he faced 37 shots.

JAMES WISNIEWSKI-The Good and Sometimes Ugly

James Wisniewski came to the Canadiens riding a six game New York Islanders scoring streak. Since he arrived in he Montreal camp December 30th he’s played in six games, scoring 2 goals and five assists. Including his last two weeks with the Islanders, Wisniewski has 3 goals and 10 assists over his last twelve games.
