Of the nine Canadiens players who were facing unrestricted three agency at the end of the year, five have received contracts for the coming season. The Canadiens re-signed three of them. Mathieu Darche, Andrei Kostitsyn, Chris Campoli and Jaroslav Spacek are still awaitiing offers.

According to Jacques Martin, the Canadiens gave up too many scoring chances to the Islanders last night. Hal Gill was in hospital because of an infected lacteration on a leg and won’t be available for tomorrow night’s game against a New York Ranger team that has won it’s last seven games.

NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan has elected not to add supplementary discipline to the game misconduct handed Tampa Bay’s Ryan Malone during Sunday night’s Canadiens/Tampa Bay game in Quebec City. The collision resulted in a blow to the head of defenseman Chris Campoli.

DUMONT RE-ASSIGNED-39 Remain in Canadiens Camp

The Canadiens reduced their training camp roster to 39 Monday with the re-assignment of forward Gabriel Dumont to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Eleven of the 39 remaining players are nursing injuries.

With questions still be asked about the status of Andrei Markov’s recovery from knee surgery, the Canadiens have signed defenseman Chris Campoli to a one year contract. Campoli became an unrestricted free agent when the Chicago Black Hawks elected to walk away from an arbitration hearing.
